EV charging answer

Should I get multiple quotes before hiring an electrician?

Short answer

For an EV charger, comparing two quotes is reasonable, especially if your panel is far from the garage. However, the cost of getting 4 or 5 quotes usually exceeds the price variance between qualified pros. If you want a second quote, ask us, and we will route a second match.

More detail

Unlike a $50,000 kitchen remodel, a residential EV charger install is a highly standardized job. The variance between two qualified electricians is usually less than $200 to $300 and often comes down to their hourly labor rate and the cost of copper wire that week.

If the first electrician quotes you a $3,000 panel upgrade, you should absolutely get a second opinion. A different electrician might use an Energy Management System (like a DCC-9) to avoid the panel upgrade entirely, saving you thousands.

If you want a second quote, email us. We will route to a second EVITP-certified pro in your area at no cost to you. The two contractors do not compete in real time, and you can decline either or both.

One request. EVITP-certified electrician. Flat-rate quote.

$1,000 federal tax credit + utility rebates filed by the matched electrician — included with the install. Free for you.
